Background: Osteoporosis is one of the major causes of morbidity & mortality in elderly. Primary treatment method is the use of bisphosphonates. These are available as oral or intravenous agents. I.V agents have a good compliance but at the cost of side effects. Oral agents have a fair compliance but without major side effects. We have carried out a prospective study to evaluate the efficacy of oral bisphosphonate(risedronate) compared to i.v bisphosphonate(zolendronate) in post menopausal women with DEXA proven osteoporosis but without any fracture.
