This article reports on an exploratory study of the teaching profession in Morocco. Its main aim is to shed light on teachers perceptions of their profession, its demands, its impact on psychological health, and strategies for coping with them. To this end, we conducted a qualitative study with 30 secondary schoolteachers in Casablanca, from both the private and public sectors. The thematic analysis of the results revealed a double facet of the teachers perception of this profession, and also revealed that the interviewees were faced with a number of demands, making this a strenuous and demanding profession, impacting on their physical and psychological health, and requiring them to call on various strategies in order to persevere.
