This scientific study was developed focusing on the challenges faced by the military police profession and the rising suicide rates within the force. The choice of this topic is justified by the high number of suicide cases among military police officers in recent years. This increase in suicides is attributed to several factors, including the high level of daily stress to which these professionals are subjected, due to the nature of their operations, the imminent risk to life, pressure from superiors, as well as the shift schedules and on-call duties imposed by the command. It is observed that the suicide rate is alarming within the force, covering ranks from soldier to sergeant major. Thus, this article was prepared using an exploratory-scientific methodology, with a bibliographic nature, aiming to deepen the study of the topic and its aspects. The work was based on authors specialized in public security, with analysis of the constitutional basis and consultation of scientific articles related to the theme, which allowed for the formulation of robust final considerations. These considerations indicate that public security imposes significant pressure on its professionals, especially military police officers, who are governed by military doctrine, discipline, and hierarchy, in addition to extremely stressful work routines, contributing to the growing number of suicides among military police officers.
