This study focused on the functioning of the Kirkissoye dairy cooperative. It revealed a dysfunction of the cooperative relating to the poor management of the herd. This situation has resulted in the production of small quantities of milk by the cooperatives animals. The low production has influenced the level of income of actors in the dairy sector, from which shepherds are the only ones to benefit. Indeed, the income obtained by the shepherds allows them to cover 61.54% of their needs. As for the breeders (producers), milk production as conducted at the cooperative represents an economic loss for the farmer. The presence of the cooperative has benefited the surrounding population, through the learning of bourgou cultivation techniques, dairy farming techniques, and the improvement of soil fertility (organic manure). The cooperative has also encouraged the emergence of a few dairy input and product shops. In view of the advantages that the cooperative provides, in terms of household food security and job creation, its rehabilitation must be considered. Thus, the resumption of contact with the dairy industries and the improvement of herd management (animal feed) should be explored.
