EXPLORING GENDER DYNAMICS AND EMPOWERMENT IN ALICE WALKERS THE COLOUR PURPLE

A Profound exploration of gender representation in literature by focusing on the experiences of African American women in 20^th century. Walker challenges conventional gender roles by portraying Celies transformation from a submissive and oppressed young woman into a self-assured individual who finds strength in her relationships with other women. Celies bond with Shug Avery, initially her husbands mistress, evolves into a deep connection that empowers Celie to reclaim her voice and agency. Their relationship subverts norms of heterosexual love.
