Herbaceous Plant Species in and around Rajshahi Metropolitan City, Bangladesh

An extensive floristic survey on angiosperms (herbaceous plant species) and collections have been made in and around Rajshahi metropolitan city. All collected specimens were studied, identified and have been preserved in the Herbarium of Rajshahi University (HRU). A total of 181 species under 148 genera belonging to 58 families were recorded. Of these, Magnoliopsida (Dicots) was represented by 148 species under 118 genera and 42 families while Liliopsida (Monocots) was represented by 33 species under 30 genera and 16 families. Asteraceae were the largest family in Magnoliopsida represented by 35 species, and Poaceae were the largest family in Liliopsida represented by 6 species. Updated nomenclature, local name, family, habit, habitat and representative specimen have been presented under each taxon.
