Objective: To detect the value of multislice computed tomography pulmonary angiography in diagnosis and predicting outcome of pulmonary embolism. Patients and methods: This study included 25 patients, 7 males and 18 females ( 27 - 63 years old). All were examined by MSCT and V/Q scan. Results: We found statistically significant differences in RV short axis, RV/LV ratio, aorta diameter and azygos vein diameter (P values 0.022, 0.011, 0.040, < 0.001 respectively) between patients with adverse and patients with no adverse clinical outcome. Conclusion: MSCT has a prognostic value in assessment of pulmonary embolism so it can replace V/Q scan.
