The medicinal valorization of prickly pear has been evaluated by the survey of the anti-ulcer of the some functional compounds of the plant. The antiulcer activity has been valued, in vivo, on animal model whose ulceration has been provoked by ethanol. Resulted macroscopic and microscopic exams of the stomachs of rats, showed that the powder of cladodes as well as purified mucilage, possess a protective action against ulceration. When these compounds are administered at curative title, the organism doesn't manage to regenerate completely the damages provoked by the ethanol. These results have been confirmed besides by the survey of superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities, after purification. The SOD activities were normal among the rat?s witnesses and those treated by the excerpts at preventive title. On the other hand the ulcerous rats and those treated to preventive title present some SOD activities more elevated.
